Bootable USB sticks with preinstalled
software and examples of diffraction data will be provided during these sessions.
Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops to follow the
examples or to work with their own data.
Virtual machine for data processing
Because the number of provided USB sticks will be limited participants are
encouraged to download a VirtualBox virtual machine with preinstalled HKL-3000
and examples of diffraction data. Due to licensing requirements participants
need to download CCP4 and Phenix separatelly, according to provided instructions.
Install VirtualBox and VirtualBox Extension Pack
Download the virtual machine
Open (double-click) the downloaded file to install the virtual machine.
If it does not open, please select Import Appliance in the VirtualBox File menu and follow
the import wizard.
- You may want to adjust the memory available to the virtual machine according to memory
installed in your computer. Minimal memory that should be used for this virtual machine is 4GB.
Start the virtual machine. By default it will be named workshop.
Login as a Workshop user. Use password workshop.
Follow the instructions on the desktop to install CCP4 and Phenix.
Without CCP4 you will be able to use only HKL-2000 for data processing.
